Strategy Sub-Council Review

In the past month, the Strategy Subcouncil addressed previous topics and added new ones, including Governance, Land, and Staking matters. Firstly, they introduced the initial peer evaluation process, a crucial step in the governance structure. This process provides insights into behind-the-scenes information, benefiting the community. This proposal passed swiftly and will debut later in this epoch.

Secondly, Council members drafted several fuel-pool-based proposals scheduled for a vote in August. Currently, three pending proposals enhance the initial concept of Lands generating fuel and establishing a trading game within Illuvium Zero.

Lastly, the Strategy Subcouncil initiated discussions concerning the upcoming conclusion of Liquidity pool rewards for Sushi Liquidity Providers. The team will present concepts for transitioning into the next staking phase following the conclusion of rewards.

Marketing Sub-Council Review

The Marketing sub-council dedicated multiple meetings to carefully review the new pricing proposal for Illuvium Beyond (D1sks), aiming to align it effectively with the DAO's goals and Illuvium's broader mission.

Additionally, the Marketing sub-council brainstormed strategies for the Wave 2 launch. Some proposed approaches to enhance marketing effectiveness and community engagement include:

  • Re-introducing the successful "influencer Twitter giveaways" from Wave 1, targeting 1 million impressions.
  • Developing impactful videos with strategic product placement, focusing on community engagement.
  • Creating Cosplay NFTs to generate excitement for Beyond Wave 2.
  • Collaborating with major Web3 communities and providing a "buy 1, get 1 free token" incentive.
  • Incorporating top NFT collections into the launch party D1sk battles.
  • Partnering with non-Web3 influencers to expand reach.
  • Brainstorming captivating names for the "Hardcore D1sk Battle" launch event.

Additionally, there was discussion about cross-promotion and collaboration with Guilds, which have thrived as vibrant Web3 communities within the Illuvium ecosystem. An "Illuvium Beyond Guild Leaderboard" was proposed to enhance Guild engagement, where individual player achievements would impact the overall Guild rankings.

Game Sub-Council Review

During one meeting, Ben introduced the latest PvP version to fellow Game Sub-Council members. He guided them through a match video, addressing questions. The sub-council's input was gathered to evaluate PvP's current status.

Vic, Illuvium Labs' Legal Council, joined the discussion about gaming-related gambling, especially concerning the Leviathan Arena. The aim was to identify limitations for incorporating wager matches in the Arena.

Discussions took place about potentially extending the Illuvium Beyond leaderboard. Pros and cons were considered, alongside an efficient implementation plan if needed.

The Game Sub-Council debated their agreed fuel pricing strategy. They shared viewpoints on dynamic and pegged pricing, discussed land's future implications, and examined how dynamic pricing maintains balance.

Community Sub-Council Review

Recently, the Community Sub-Council made significant strides on a variety of topics. Discussions revolved around Illuvitar pricing adjustments and coming to a solution that the council and the community would be happy with. Perry's insights were invaluable in shaping a revised proposal. The council focused on refining trading protocols for Council members through deliberations on an in-depth trading blackout ICCP.

The council's commitment to engagement was underscored by finalizing plans for a Community Sub-Council town hall scheduled for July 31st. The council also navigated strategies for handling excessive criticism constructively while reconsidering the role of emojis in feedback channels. Regarding inclusivity, channels for governance ideas and information were prepared for launch, set to go live by July 31st, showcasing the council's commitment to transparency and community involvement.

Proposals Recap

ICCP-11 Alpha Stamp for Wave 1 Illuvitars PASSED

Alpha Stamp for Wave 1 Illuvitars specifies that Wave 1 Illuvitars will have a distinct variation of the Alpha Stamp compared to future Waves. This proposal originated from a community idea and intends further to differentiate Wave 1 Illuvitars as a premium product and pay homage to the higher price points for Wave 1.

ICCP-12-R Illuvitars Wave 2 Sale Parameters PASSED

This proposal changed multiple parameters for the Wave 2 Illuvitars sale, including pricing, tier weights, and Alpha Sale duration. Prices are set to $6/$36 for Standard and Mega D1SKS, with 2x and 3x multipliers for Alpha. Tier weights are increased, and Alpha Sale is set to 24 hours with an unlimited supply. In-game unlocks are added as a collection incentive. The Marketing Sub-Council revised ICCP-12 from $5/$30 to $6/$36; tier weights were reduced slightly.

IIP-34 Ascendant Rule Structure Revision PASSED

IIP-34 specifies that Stage 1 Illuvials will no longer be playable as their higher Stage counterparts. Additionally, pre-built decks consisting of primarily low-tier Illuvials will exist to onboard new players, and a free rotation of in-game assets to be utilized as a part of the player’s deck building. The core intent of the proposal is to onboard gamers into the ecosystem with less friction.

IIP-35 Peer and Self Evaluation for Council Members PASSED

Brought forward by the Strategy Sub-Council, IIP-35 creates a framework for council members to evaluate themselves and their peers twice an epoch, at 2.5 months and 5 months into an epoch. This evaluation intends to provide council members with an evaluation of their performance and to provide ILV holders with transparency into the performance of council members. As this proposal was passed approximately at the 2.5-month mark, and a small amount of technical work needed to be completed, the first evaluation will occur at the 5-month mark of Epoch 8.

IIP-36 Affiliate Marketing for Illuvium Beyond PASSED

Illuvium’s marketing team put together the framework for IIP-36, which creates an affiliate marketing program. Through this program, affiliates can receive a portion of proceeds from D1SKS purchased through affiliate links.

Understanding the Illuvium DAO and Illuvium Labs: A Collaborative Gaming Project

Recently, community questions have been surrounding the nature of the Illuvium DAO's relationship with Illuvium Labs and the roles each party plays in developing Illuvium. This article will provide an overview of the relationship between the two parties.

Shared Goals: Bringing Blockchain Gaming to Life

The Illuvium DAO and Illuvium Labs share a common vision: to revolutionize the gaming industry by creating exceptional blockchain-powered games and introducing them to the market.

The Client-Contractor Relationship

At its core, the Illuvium DAO maintains a client-contractor relationship with Illuvium Labs. The DAO has engaged Illuvium Labs to develop games on its behalf, but this partnership goes beyond game development.

Delegation of Responsibilities

The Illuvium DAO has entrusted Illuvium Labs with critical responsibilities beyond game development. These duties include treasury management, accounting, and establishing partnerships, among other tasks that the DAO acknowledges it lacks the expertise or capacity to perform autonomously.

The DAO's Role in Steering Development

While Illuvium Labs handles various practical and administrative aspects, the Illuvium DAO remains actively involved in steering the development of Illuvium products. The DAO can provide valuable input on crucial elements such as pricing, product strategy, community management, marketing and game balance. Nevertheless, the DAO recognizes that the specialized knowledge required to create games lies within the Illuvium Labs team.

Consultation and Collaboration

To ensure the project's success, the Illuvium DAO collaborates closely with Illuvium Labs. This collaboration was critical in developing Governance V2 and remains critical to success. When facing decisions outside of council members' expertise, seeking guidance from the experts at Illuvium Labs is crucial.

In Conclusion

The Illuvium DAO and Illuvium Labs share a symbiotic relationship, working hand in hand to achieve their shared goals. While the DAO plays a pivotal role in shaping the project's direction, it acknowledges the importance of leveraging Illuvium Labs' expertise in game development, market strategy and technical implementations.
