Strategy Sub-Council Review
In August, the Strategy Subcouncil completed its review of community feedback on the three approved Fuel proposals. By the second week of September, they crafted a proposal incorporating this feedback, ultimately gaining community and council approval. Specific concerns, such as the top rail structure, were also addressed with Johnny.
Discussions occurred regarding a potential "GIP" or Game Improvement Proposal. This initiative aims to streamline community-driven changes to the games by bridging the gap between community insights and the team's expertise. The Game Subcouncil will convey community concerns to the team and collaboratively develop solutions. The GIP proposal is in its final drafting stages and will be presented to the community soon.
Governance has been a prominent topic of debate, especially with the end of Epoch 8 approaching in just two months. All councils were tasked with providing feedback to the Strategy Subcouncil, which will compile this input into an updated Governance V2 proposal. Discussions about this new iteration are ongoing, with the potential for collaboration with VARA mentioned in multiple meetings. It's important to note that these are preliminary discussions, and any move to fall under a new regulatory body would require approval from the entire DAO, involving an IIP and extensive community deliberation.
Marketing Sub-Council Review
In previous meetings, the MSC (Marketing Sub-Council) focused on shaping the marketing plan for Illuvium Beyond's Wave 2 launch. They devised vital initiatives, including a captivating Illuvitar trailer, Twitter raffles, Discord engagement, partnerships, and the highly anticipated Wave 2 Launch Party. The Launch Party plans encompassed D1sk giveaways, a trivia challenge with rewards and leaderboards, and exciting events featuring Kieran & Johnny.
In subsequent meetings, the MSC revisited the Wave 2 Launch Party, seeking ways to enhance its format and improve organisation and crowd engagement. They also took time to reflect on the progress of Illuvium Beyond Wave 2, celebrating achievements and addressing shortcomings to ensure ongoing success in this dynamic environment.
Marketing strategies for the PvP beta launch will include a significant partnership. Future marketing efforts will depend on the beta's performance, focusing on efficiency, expanding beta access, and potential hires for content outreach. All actions will be carried out carefully, considering marketing ROI and strategic adjustments as necessary.
Throughout the month, the MSC explored various other topics. They discussed enhancing the merch store by adding digital in-game bonuses to improve the buying experience. Additionally, they considered utilising platforms like YouTube Shorts and implementing a TikTok-inspired character promotion strategy. MSC's plans involve content creation, guild partnerships, community engagement, user experience enhancements, and identifying critical new IIPs for DAO operations and governance process improvements.
Game Sub-Council Review
The Gaming Sub-Council [GSC] met to review recent updates from the IMC, including the PVP delay, the Open Beta release schedule, preparations for the third Illuvitars sale, and discussions about an upcoming full council meeting.
Within the GSC, discussions revolved around potential changes to the game-related proposal process, finalising the structure of the current IIP for the Game Improvement Proposal (GIP), and planning how to present and release the proposal to the community.
During the meeting, there was a discussion regarding IIP-40 - Exclusive Illuvium Zero Battle Board Rewards. Differing opinions were expressed, and the long-term consequences of this change were explored, focusing on understanding the request's origin and considering possible alternatives.
Community Sub-Council Review
In August, the Community Sub-Council [CSC] discussions revolved around addressing toxicity concerns within the Discord platform, with ongoing efforts to ensure constructive conversations prevail.
Following the successful launch of Illuvium Beyond Wave 2, the CSC highlights the significance of utilising polling through the governance email list. The objective is to collect valuable feedback from the community. After thorough deliberation, the CSC has created an Illuvium Beyond Wave 2 Sentiment Questionnaire, which will be shared with the community. The aim is to understand the community's sentiments and experiences with Illuvium Beyond Wave 2, providing insights to inform potential changes for Wave 3.
Lastly, the CSC explored methods to enhance the Vote of No Confidence (VONC) process and community moderation. Moreover, they clarified the VONC process description and discussed the timing of council remuneration concerning VONCs.
Proposals Recap
IIP-37-R Allows Purchasers and Land Holders to create Buy/Sell Orders for Fuel PASSED
IIP-37 specifies an order book system for buying and selling Fuel instead of the initially planned implementation of a multi-token AMM. Multiple parameters are set in IIP-37, including buy and sell order functionality and the intent to not support second-order sales within the order book. IIP-37 received a minor revision to clarify the IMC’s expectations around the possibility of Fuel being sold outside the order book solution.
IIP-39 Fuel and Land Plot Balancing PASSED
The Strategy Sub-Council bundled several ideas from IIP-38 and ICCP-13 into a more comprehensive proposal to guide balancing and fuel production. Four mechanisms are specified. Manual balancing by Illuvium Labs will be the primary means to balance Fuel production immediately following launch. A top guardrail will be present, effectively setting a cap on the price of a unit of Fuel. In the future, land sales will be utilised to increase production when necessary, and an automated balancing system will be developed and implemented.
