When staking in the V3 contract, you are rewarded in two ways:
Revenue Distribution
Shards
You can stake in two different Vaults, ILV and ILV/ETH. You can also boost your rewards (up to 3x) by setting a lock period on your stake and having a history of staking on our V1 and V2 contracts (OG Boost).
Here is some key information before you start with the process:
While your ILV is staked, you accrue revenue. Illuvium generates revenue from games, merchandise sales, and other activities, which is then distributed to stakers.
Revenue Distribution occurs once accumulated revenue surpasses 150 ETH and the Safety Pool is fully funded.

Bridging: Moving your tokens between networks (in our case, from Ethereum’s mainnet to the Base network).
You will need both ILV and ETH bridged to the Base network. For the ILV token, Illuvium provides its own bridge. For ETH, we will use a third-party bridge recommended by the Base developers. You may use alternative methods if you prefer. Some exchanges allow direct withdrawals to Base if you plan to fund your wallet from an exchange.
Vault
ETH Amount to Bridge
ILV
We recommend bridging around $1–$5 worth of ETH. Each transaction costs only a few cents in network fees, so this amount should cover your future transactions (e.g., unstaking).
ILV/ETH
Send the same dollar value of ETH as the ILV you plan to stake. For example, if you have $1,000 worth of ILV, you should send $1,000 worth of ETH (plus an additional $1–$5 for network fees).

ILV/ETH

Example based on current prices and gas fee: ILV – $10; ETH – $4,000
Click Connect in the top right corner. Make sure your wallet is unlocked.
3
In the pop-up from your wallet, confirm the connection.
4
Once connected, set the amount of ILV you want to bridge and click Approve & Transfer.
5
You will now see two pop-ups from your wallet:
Spending cap request – This allows the Bridge to interact with your ILV tokens.
Bridging transaction – This will send your tokens to the Bridge.
Note: Depending on network conditions, the process may take 5–10 minutes.
6
Now that you have bridged ILV and ETH, you can proceed to the next step based on the vault you want to stake in.
Step 2 - If you want to stake in the ILV/ETH Vault
Step 3 - If you want to stake in the ILV Vault
Step 2: Get LP tokens (only for ILV/ETH Vault)
Skip this step if you are staking in the ILV Vault, and proceed straight to Step 3
To stake in the ILV/ETH Vault, you need to add liquidity to the ILV/ETH pool. This means exchanging an equal dollar value of ILV and ETH (50:50 USD ratio) into LP tokens. These are the tokens you'll be staking on the platform.
Please make sure you understand Impermanent Loss. This means that when you withdraw your assets from a liquidity pool, you may receive a different distribution of tokens than what you initially deposited due to price changes between the two assets (especially if one increases significantly while the other decreases).
Click on Browser Wallet and confirm the connection in your wallet.
3
The app will automatically detect the tokens you bridged in Step 1. Enter the amount of ILV you want to stake; the ETH amount will adjust automatically to match the ILV value in USD. (Make sure you keep enough ETH to pay the transaction fees for the next steps.)
You will see WETH instead of ETH, which is correct. WETH stands for Wrapped ETH and represents your ETH tokens on the Base network.
Step 3: Add Your OG Wallets
If you never staked in the v1 or v2 staking contracts, or if you are planning to stake with your OG wallet (the one you used in the v1 or v2 contracts), skip this step and go to Step 5.
If you previously staked in the v1 and/or v2 staking contracts, you may be eligible to receive an extra multiplier on your staking positions (based on how long you staked before, up to a maximum of 2.0x).
You can add your OG wallet (or multiple wallets as the tenure adds up) by following the steps below:
Your wallet should already be connected from the previous step; if not, click the Connect button in the top-right corner and reconnect your wallet.
3
Click “Create a New Stake.”
4
Set up your stake:
Choose your Vault - Select either the ILV or ILV/ETH vault.
Set the Token Amount - Enter the number of tokens you want to stake.
Set the Lock Duration - Choose a lock period ranging from 1–12 months (click Custom if you want a specific number of days).
5
Review all settings, and click Continue.
Note: If you have an OG Multiplier, it will not show here. It will appear under your staked position after staking.
6
You will now receive two pop-ups from your wallet:
Spending cap request – Allows the Staking V3 contract to interact with your ILV tokens.
Staking transaction – Sends your tokens to the Staking V3 contract.
Note: It may take 5–15 minutes for the transaction to be confirmed on the blockchain.
7
You're done! You have successfully staked your ILV tokens.
After a few minutes, your new Staking V3 position will appear in the “My Stakes” section. From now on, you can log in to check how many Shards you’ve earned.
Note: The shard balance updates once a day at 00:00 UTC.
