Illuvium Collections on Immutable zkEVM
What’s Changing and Why
- Date PublishedDec 22, 2025

Illuvium is preparing for a major leap forward as we migrate all Illuvium assets and core services to the Immutable zkEVM chain. This migration will introduce several positive and important changes, laying the groundwork for a more scalable ecosystem with cleaner collections, an improved user experience, and a unified foundation for future game features.
What's Changing?
With the move to Immutable zkEVM, the structure of Illuvium collections is being updated. Unique assets will remain ERC-721 tokens, while all other assets will transition to ERC-1155. As a result, non-unique items will be displayed as stackable entries rather than individual tokens, changing how they appear in inventories and marketplaces.
What Stays ERC-721
Some Illuvium assets are inherently unique and therefore need to remain ERC-721 on Immutable zkEVM:
- Illuvials
- Illuvitars
- Land Plots
These assets retain their persistent token IDs and unique traits. Market behaviour, ownership, and rarity are unaffected.
What Becomes ERC-1155
Non-unique assets will now stack and share token IDs by collection. This includes:
- Overworld Items (Weapons, Suits, Equipment)
- Beyond:
- Disks
- Accessories
- Zero:
- Blueprints
- Skins
- Cosmetics:
- Battle Boards
- Borders
- Emotes
- Drone Skins
- Drone Blasts
- Suit Skins
- Obelisk Codes → 3 ERC-1155 tokens
- Xenoprints → 1 ERC-1155 token
- Other event rewards → 2 ERC-1155 tokens
Why Are Collections Changing?
Under the previous structure, identical items were represented as separate ERC-721 tokens, each with its own token ID. While functional, this created cluttered collections, slower trading, and unnecessary friction when interacting with multiple items at once.
By moving non-unique items to ERC-1155, identical items can now stack, trade more efficiently through order books, and support bulk interactions such as opening multiple Disks at once. This improves inventory clarity, marketplace usability, and scalability, while preserving ownership and rarity.
What will be affected by these changes?
Early Beyond D1sk Token ID Holders
To compensate for Beyond Disks losing their unique token IDs and to recognise the early supporters who hold these valuable initial-mint items, we will reward eligible holders with an OG NFT. This NFT is not intended as compensation but as an appreciation token for early participation in Beyond.
Details on how to claim it, along with timing and eligibility, will be announced after the migration window.
Illuvitars Bonding Behaviour
Illuvitar bonding remains unchanged in function, but zkEVM allows us to express it more cleanly. Instead of minting a new bonded Illuvitar NFT, the accessories will now be bonded directly onto the existing Illuvitar itself.
Bulk D1sk Opening
Thanks to ERC-1155 stacking, bulk D1sk opening will be a significantly smoother experience, reducing friction and saving time when opening multiple D1sks.
Fuel Crates
Fuel crates will not migrate as on-chain NFTs. Instead, crate ownership has been snapshotted, and the corresponding fuel value will be credited to players. Crates will remain visible as off-chain assets in Illuvidex as reconciliation completes.
Illuvidex
All Illuvium assets will be unavailable to trade once the migration begins, and all current offers and listings will be cleared, as they cannot be carried over to zkEVM. The result is a cleaner, healthier marketplace environment moving forward.
A Foundation for What Comes Next
These updates modernise how Illuvium collections work while preserving what matters most: ownership, rarity, and long-term value. As we move to Immutable zkEVM, we are laying the groundwork for cleaner collections today and richer experiences across the Illuvium ecosystem in the years ahead.
